For some time we have been looking for an affiliation with an army cadet unit to go alongside that for the Sea and Air cadets which we already support. Our search led us to the Royal School of Milatary engineering where Army Engineers arere trained. We were particularly impressed by the training being given to electrical apprentices which includes a module on lighting. Although not a cadet unit we immediatley saw a direct link with our own profession and the excelent grass roots training being given.

So on Friday 14th December 2018 The Master, Past Master Mike Simpson, Liveryman Dave Burns and our Learned Clerk Phill Hyde visited the Royal School of Military Engineering Chatham. This was to confirm and sign our affliation to the school and the young soldiers being trained in electrical installations and maintenance on both LV and HV distribution networks for the Army.

Following a tour and inspection of the training facilities the Master Steve Thomas and Captain Adam Irvine signed the documents and looked forward to a wonderful affliation of our Livery with 24th Sqadron Training REME.

As part of our affiliation we will recognise the top apprentice for the year who will go forward to be considered for our Apprentice award. The Education committee will be responsible for ongoing links with the school.
