The Lightmongers have an active programme of awards and bursaries that covers virtually all areas of training activity relating to the Company objectives. The extensive range of subjects and establishments listed below has grown rapidly thanks, in some cases, to funding from beyond our normal charitable resources becoming available through the generosity of members underwriting awards. The Bartlett School of Architecture , University College London – MSc in Light & LightingThe Lightmongers Millar Award for outstanding achievement. The Walter Stevens/Lightmongers Bursary for a needy student paying his/her own way through the course (usually without support from an employer). Electrical Safety Council/Lightmongers Award for the best exterior lighting design project. London South Bank UniversityThe David Green Channel Safety/Lightmongers Prize for the best dissertation in the lighting module of the BSc (Hons) Building Services course. London City UniversityThe Geoffrey Hall/Lightmongers Merit Award to a student on the BSc Optometry & Visual Science course, in recognition of exceptional merit or achievement in a particular area of study. Guildhall School of Music and DramaThe WILA Lighting/Lightmongers Prize for the best student undertaking the lighting module of the BA (Hons) Stage Management & Technical Theatre course. Rose Bruford CollegeThe Raymond Reid/Lightmongers Prize for a lighting scheme design competition undertaken by students following the BA (Hons) Lighting Design course (Theatre & Performing Arts) in recognition of exceptional merit or achievement in the work of the department. University of ManchesterThe David Hawes Tridonic/Lightmongers Prize for the best student on the lighting module of the MSc Sustainable Electrical Building Services Engineering course. Young Lighters of the YearThe Lightmongers Prize for the best presentation of a paper in an annual competition run by the Society of Light & Lighting (SLL) with the support from the Institution of Lighting Engineers ILE), the Lightmomgers and a comercial sponsor. City & GuildsSimon Bartley / Lightmongers Award presented at the annual City & Guilds Lion Awards. Mansion House Scholarships SchemeThe Company makes an annual contribution to this scheme. Affiliations with SchoolsThe Lightmongers present prizes to the Head Boy and Head Girl of their two affiliated schools serving the needs of children with sensory disabilities. Thus there are four prizes, each known as Hugh Ogus/Lightmongers Prize 1. For deaf children, Mary Hare School Newbury 2. For blind children, New College Worcester Affiliations with H.M. ServicesThe Ian Crosby/Lightmongers Achievement Award to 579 Field Squadron of the Territorial Army (101 City of London Engineers Regiment). |
